You may have spotted the Waste Strategy Team at “Go Green Week” which ran from 13th-17th February. This annual, student-led event draws attention to climate change, increasing awareness of our impact upon the planet and actively promotes greener living.
Appearing at six stalls across Cardiff University and Cardiff Metropolitan, the team were on hand to answer waste and recycling questions. They also gave out loads of goodies to help students get started with recycling i.e. food waste bags and caddies, recycling bags and leaflets on what to recycle and how.
Go Green week gave the opportunity to encourage hundreds of students to Reduce, Reuse, Recycle; promoting the benefits for our planet. Did you know that recycling an aluminium can uses 95% less energy than manufacturing a new one?
Waste Strategy also supported the “Clean Up Cathays” litter-pick, providing equipment to the 30 volunteers who took part making the event a success. By working together, we collected 15 bin bags of litter from the streets, leaving Cathays that little bit cleaner. Well done students of Cathays and thanks for having us along!
