On October 1st, over 25,000 runners pulled on their trainers to make their way around the Cardiff Half Marathon 13.1 mile circuit. To keep the runners fuelled and hydrated throughout the course, race organisers provided bottled water and bananas to help the athletes along their way.
That of course can leave a lot of water bottles and banana skins to tidy! Luckily, our teams were on hand to make sure the marathon route was cleared as soon as possible and lots of lovely recycling was collected. In fact, over 7 tonnes of waste was recycled. Not bad for a Sunday morning.
So thank you to the runners of Cardiff Half, for helping us collect as much recycling as possible, with help from the #runrefuelrecycle campaign at Recycle for Wales.
Did you know that recycling just one water bottle can save enough energy to power a television for 50 minutes. Time to put those feet up and recuperate!
